The ASSISTANT WAREHOUSE MANAGER works under the direction of the warehouse manager; oversees loading and unloading of product; oversees route truck drivers; provides training and work for others; keeps product organized and restocked in warehouse; can fill in for warehouse or driver positions; enforce policies and procedures, increase productivity, misc. duties.

  • Supervise and work with the warehouse employees.
  • Train, coach and develop employees.
  • Unload incoming product.
  • Verify product with packing slip/invoice.
  • Load outgoing product.
  • Supervise the route truck drivers.
  • Review routes with drivers and management and make changes as needed.
  • Ensure trucks are kept clean and in good working condition (regular maintenance performed).
  • Have back up drivers in place so everything can continue to run smoothly when someone is off.
  • Notify/work with the operations manager on items that need done or repaired.
  • Ensure everyone observes all safety rules and hold safety meetings quarterly.
  • Conduct monthly warehouse evaluations.
  • Post a to-do list so other team members know what needs attention and when it needs done.
  • Ensure all products are kept in their designated area and product is restocked daily – work with management on warehouse layout.
  • Respond to after hour alarms.
  • Keep security list updated and delete terminated employees immediately.
  • Track, investigate and log shortages, miss-ships and productivity.
  • Perform inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory levels and verify any discrepancies.
  • Review and approve time cards weekly.
  • Schedule employees and keep overtime to a minimum.
  • Conduct annual evaluations on all employees (30, 60, 90 day evaluations on new employees).
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in timely manner (new hires, work comp, warnings, termination, etc).
  • Receive inventory into the computer system as soon as truck is unloaded.
  • Send out all shipments as invoiced daily.
  • Take care of customer pick-up.
  • Ensure inside and outside of building kept clean and everything working properly.
  • Review fuel bills and cell phone bills for problems or misuse.
  • Meet daily goals for number of tires shipped or received per person.
  • Process customer credits in a timely manner.
  • Process adjustment tires.
  • Send paperwork to Delphos in a timely manner.
  • Review weekly truck tracker reports.
  • Check in drivers when they return from their routes.
