About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Warehouse Manager/ Donation Truck Driver are to: · Oversee the receipt of donations and shipments to and from the warehouse. · Provide supervisory support as requested by the General Manager. · Work cooperatively with all team members and program participants to implement the Enterprise's plan. · Be a team member who promotes and participates in a collegial atmosphere within the Enterprises Department and collaborates with all Enterprises team members to attain the overall departmental goal. · Operate a truck to pick up donations and deliver them to an Enterprise location. It is the duty of the Assistant Warehouse Manager/Donation Truck Driver to hold to the mission, vision, and core values of The Foundry. The Assistant Warehouse Manager/Donation Truck Driver must be willing to sign The Foundry's Statement of Faith. The Assistant Warehouse Manager/Donation Truck Driver reports directly to the General Manager and upholds the Board of Directors' policies. The responsibilities of the Assistant Warehouse Manager/Donation Truck Driver include, but are not limited to, the duties defined in this responsibility description.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or approved equivalent experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience driving large trucks, including essential vehicle inspections and maintenance.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of warehouse experience.
  • MVR must be approved by The Foundry's insurance carrier.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft 365, Google Docs, and other job-specific software.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting/carrying guidelines and other basic safety protocols.
  • Must be able to work required overtime as assigned by the General Manager, including but not limited to evening shifts and special events.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive driving, walking, and climbing in and out of the vehicle; lifting 50 pounds regularly; transporting donations to and from various locations in all weather conditions; and wearing personal protective equipment such as gloves and work boots.
  • You must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, and climb ladders up to 12 feet in height.
  • You must be able to work in a production and warehouse environment, including exposure to dust and fluctuating temperatures.
  • You must express yourself verbally and accurately, and loudly or quickly convey verbal instructions.
  • You must hear and understand speech in person, via telephone, or other devices, and recognize work-associated sounds such as vehicle horns or emergency sirens.
  • You must have near and far visual acuity and clear peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

  • Price donated furniture, including antiques, collectibles, repaired major appliances, and small engine items.
  • Supervise staff and program participants assigned to the warehouse.
  • Oversee donation trailers and collection areas, including daily cleaning of the facility's interior and exterior.
  • Facilitate and supervise the day-to-day receipt of donations from opening the bay doors to clean-up.
  • Inspect donations to determine what should be priced, what should be recycled, what should be stored, and what should be discarded.
  • Facilitate the storage and loading of baled clothing, scrap metals, paper, and other recyclable materials.
  • Responsible for weekly inventory for all donated goods in storage, in and out of storage facilities (including off-site facility).
  • Communicate with the General Manager to determine when loads of clothing, scrap metals, bric-a-brac, and paper are or will be available for shipment.
  • Interact with vendors' shippers for all containers to be dropped off with pick-up times and obtain the location of shipment deliveries.
  • Responsible for scheduling and managing monthly bale loads.
  • Responsible for opening, closing, and securing all gates and doors as requested.
  • Primary operator of the donation truck to efficiently pick up and deliver donations as directed by the General Manager.
  • Functional knowledge of vehicle maintenance, including fuel and fluid levels, tire pressure, battery, fuses, light bulbs, and lift mechanisms.
  • Strategically review the assigned route before departure and organize the schedule to maximize pick-ups.
  • Maintain constant communication with Dispatch during the route.
  • Functional knowledge of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers.
  • Observe all safety rules provided by The Foundry Ministries, Inc., the Alabama Department of Public Safety, and OSHA.
  • Serve as an ambassador of The Foundry Ministries, Inc.
  • Follow departmental guidelines for customer service and resolving customer issues.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service to donors.
  • Treat each program participant assigned as a rider and to the warehouse with dignity and professionalism.
  • Provide workforce training to participants in soft skills and technical skills when applicable.
  • Communicate issues and concerns regarding program participants to management.
  • Maintain program participant confidentiality at all times.
  • Supervision includes training, encouraging, and collaborating with The Foundry Farm Director on G.R.O.W. action plans
  • Train and supervise program participants assigned to the warehouse in the handling of merchandise for storage, sales, recycling, and discarding.
