About The Position

Waldorf University is seeking passionate and qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Volleyball Coach to both the varsity and junior varsity teams. Assistant coaches at Waldorf recruit excellent student-athletes that represent and reflect Waldorf in a positive manner, operate within a disciplined program that strives for excellence, to instruct so that each performer and team reaches their potential, to develop physical fitness in each athlete, to develop positive character traits in every player, instill sportsmanship in all involved and challenge student-athletes to succeed academically and graduate. Successful fulfillment of coaching responsibilities includes, but is not limited to strong organizational, communication and leadership skills; proven ability to recruit quality student-athletes, instruction of techniques, fundamentals, coaching skills and psychological skills training; mentoring, equipment control, retention of student-athletes, a commitment to ensuring strong atmosphere of the student-athletes' academic progress including monitoring student-athletes' progress toward a degree; community involvement; attend all staff meetings, and any other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics. This position will also include a collateral within department or other area of the University to be determined. This is a full-time, benefit eligible and primarily 10-month (August through May annually) position with limited time commitments during June and July to complete any ongoing recruitment activities, attendance or representation at orientation day and Athletic department fundraising event(s), as well as monitoring responding to email or messages as needed. Ideal candidates will have collegiate coaching experience at the NAIA level, proven ability to recruit quality student athletes, and a commitment to the development of individuals and the team.

Requirements

  • A strong commitment to absolute integrity, values, high sense of ethics and morals and expectations of Waldorf University is critical and required; and absolute compliance with all NAIA, Great Plains Athletic Conference, and institutional rules and regulations at all times.
  • Able to work as a team member and be self-directed and be willing to serve as good will ambassador for Waldorf University Athletics.
  • Must possess experience working with diverse students and staff and the ability to organize and motivate student-athletes to maximum performance level in athletics and academic achievements.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate NAIA level
  • Demonstrated recruiting skills
  • Ability to create an engaging and positive athlete development experience
  • Skilled in all forms of communication including proficiencies and interest/skill set in social media activities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Driver's license with a clean driving record
