From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers, and academic leaders, ASME's members are as diverse as the engineering community itself. We are seeking an Assistant Video Editor/Content Creator to support the creation of engaging content to promote engineering innovations, educational outreach, and membership engagement. This role requires hands-on editing, shooting, and producing content for digital platforms, events, and publications, ensuring high-quality storytelling highlighting engineering advancements.

Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree or additional equivalent work experience in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field
  • at least two years of experience in video production, with demonstrated proficiency in shooting, editing (Adobe Premiere, After Effects), and producing content from concept to delivery
  • Relationship Management – A collaborative mindset with a passion for creating impactful content.
  • Project Management – A detailed approach and ability to work independently and remain organized in order to meet commitments and balance competing priorities
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital trends, including optimization for YouTube engineering and STEM audiences.
  • Understanding of AI in video production and a keen interest in emerging technology.
  • Must provide a reel or portfolio showing video work.

  • Engineering background or familiarity with technical subjects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and collaborate with the video team to produce short-form videos and marketing content for YouTube, social media, and ASME events.
  • Edit in Adobe Premiere, incorporating graphics, animation, music, and effects while adhering to ASME brand guidelines. Execute revisions and notes quickly.
  • Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment on location at ASME offices and conferences, universities, and tech companies, ensuring professional-quality footage.
  • Shoot and produce independently on location and at ASME events.
  • Conceptualize and produce short-form content from pre through post-production. Includes scripting, shooting, and editing.
  • Conceptualize and produce short-form iPhone videos.
  • Collaborate with graphics teams to create and implement new animation and visual techniques.
  • Manage production paperwork, emails, and shoot logistics, including scripts, scheduling, call sheets, and release forms.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment to and from location.
  • Create and refine YouTube thumbnails, titles, and descriptions to target audiences such as students, early to mid-career engineers, and people interested in STEM.
  • Upload footage, assets, and projects to ASME’s DAM, including metadata and notes.
  • Remain knowledgeable about current and emerging AI video production capabilities and implement in projects/workflow.
