About The Position

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm providing investment banking, securities, investment, and wealth management services. In Wealth Management, the firm helps people, businesses, and institutions build, preserve, and manage wealth. This role, Assistant Vice President, Risk Management, is based in Purchase, NY. The position involves producing monthly risk dashboards and analytical reports for senior management and risk governance committees, coordinating with data partners to collect, validate, and reconcile metric information, analyzing operational loss data to identify emerging risk trends and underlying drivers, performing ad-hoc quantitative and qualitative analysis, consolidating and transforming large data sets into risk metrics, visualizing data using advanced tools, building and enhancing interactive dashboards, developing data pipelines for operational risk analytics, maintaining and improving operational risk frameworks, and leading or supporting risk-related projects to enhance data accessibility and strengthen proactive risk management initiatives. Telecommuting is permitted up to 1 day per week.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Management Science and Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field of study
  • Two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years as a Risk Analyst, Associate, or a closely related occupation
  • Two (2) years of experience with designing and developing risk reports and analytical reports in PowerPoint and Word for senior management and governance committees
  • Two (2) years of experience with collecting, validating, reconciling, and quality-checking large multi-source data sets
  • Two (2) years of experience with analyzing loss data to identify trends, threshold breaches, and root-cause risk drivers
  • Two (2) years of experience with interactive dashboard development and data visualization using Tableau, Data Studio, or Power BI
  • Two (2) years of experience with Excel including macros, pivot tables, Power Query, VLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP
  • Two (2) years of experience with SQL for data extraction, transformation, automation, and analytics
  • Two (2) years of experience with quantitative risk analysis including scenario analysis, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, trend analysis, and Key Risk Indicator monitoring
  • Two (2) years of experience with maintaining and developing risk frameworks aligned with governance standards
  • Two (2) years of experience with cross-functional risk-mitigation and data-quality improvement projects
  • Two (2) years of experience with ad-hoc quantitative and qualitative analysis for risk assessments and audits
  • Two (2) years of experience with documenting operational processes, data flows, and control environments
  • Two (2) years of experience with translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications
  • Two (2) years of experience with evaluating third-party vendors, assessing risk and supporting due diligence reviews
  • Two (2) years of experience with stakeholder management including gathering documents, managing expectations, and coordinating across global teams

Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly risk dashboards and analytical reports for senior management and risk governance committees
  • Coordinate with data partners to collect, validate, and reconcile metric information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability
  • Analyze operational loss data to identify emerging risk trends, breaches of thresholds, and underlying drivers
  • Perform ad-hoc quantitative and qualitative analysis to support risk assessments
  • Consolidate and transform large data sets into risk metrics and visualize the data using advanced tools
  • Build and enhance interactive dashboards for data visualization and develop data pipelines for operational risk analytics
  • Maintain and improve operational risk frameworks to align with enterprise-wide risk governance standards
  • Lead or support risk-related projects to enhance data accessibility and strengthen proactive risk management initiatives
