About The Position

The Assistant Vice President Risk and Compliance Assurance at HSBC serves as an independent Second Line of Defence (2LOD) function, focusing on risk-based monitoring and testing of compliance activities. This role ensures that the business adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and HSBC Group standards, while also conducting thematic reviews to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge or experience with capital markets rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of banking and security businesses, products, operations, systems, and organization.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements applicable to the businesses.
  • Experience in Swap Dealer and/or Broker Dealer compliance control testing.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational, project management, and planning skills.
  • Minimum of three to five years of financial services audit, operations, and/or compliance experience or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess compliance controls implemented by the businesses using regulatory and testing knowledge.
  • Work effectively in a team to assist in planning and executing assigned reviews.
  • Utilize repeatable branch inspection methodology for remote and in-person visits to branch offices.
  • Perform testing as directed by CA management and assist in reporting results to identify deficiencies in compliance controls.
  • Conduct risk-based reviews to align the function with the Non-Financial Risk Management framework.
  • Assist Business and Compliance Management in evaluating the effectiveness of their compliance control environment.
  • Interact with internal stakeholders to achieve compliance assurance and organizational objectives.
  • Draft portions of review reports based on a risk framework and evidence gathered from testing.
  • Focus on self-development and participate in approved training.
