About The Position

The Assistant Vice President of Philanthropy at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all fundraising activities, including principal, major, leadership individual, planned, and corporate/foundation giving. This position requires the development and execution of strategies to enhance philanthropic support for MCW and its partner, Froedtert Hospital. The AVPP will work closely with various boards and committees to foster relationships and manage a portfolio of high-value prospects, ensuring the institution's financial sustainability and growth through effective fundraising initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fundraising and philanthropy, particularly in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of major gift fundraising strategies and donor relations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with high-value prospects and institutional partners.

  • Experience in academic medicine or healthcare fundraising.
  • Familiarity with the Milwaukee philanthropic community.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute all fundraising activities including principal, major, leadership individual, planned, and corporate/foundation giving.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key institutional partners, including the Froedtert Hospital Foundation Board and MCW Board of Trustees.
  • Develop and maintain a robust portfolio of 50-75 principal/major gift prospects.
  • Serve as the primary strategist for all donor activities within the department.
  • Educate and consult with MCW and Froedtert executives, board members, and directors on philanthropy matters.
  • Lead all facets of principal, major, and leadership individual giving, including strategy, budget, and staff/program design.
