Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing required
  • Current, active New York State RN license.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including oversight of nursing practice, outcomes, or education.
  • Demonstrated experience with Magnet® Recognition Program and nursing excellence initiatives.
  • Proven record of improving patient outcomes and advancing professional practice standards.
  • Strategic and systems-level leadership.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice and outcome measurement.
  • Collaborative and transformational leadership style.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and presentation skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making and analytical ability

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing preferred.
  • Professional certification in nursing leadership, administration, or professional development preferred (e.g., NEA-BC, CPHQ, NPD-BC).

Responsibilities

  • The Assistant Vice President of Professional Practice and Nursing Outcomes provides strategic leadership and oversight of professional nursing practice, evidence-based standards, shared governance, and nursing outcomes across the organization.
  • This role ensures alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities while fostering a culture of nursing excellence, professional development, innovation, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
  • The Assistant Vice President collaborates with nursing and interprofessional leaders to advance Pathway to Excellence, promote professional accountability, and drive superior clinical and operational performance.
