About The Position

The Assistant Vice President, Heart and Vascular Institute is a strategic, knowledgeable, and respected leader within the organization, responsible for the executive oversight of all clinical, operational, and financial aspects of the Heart and Vascular Institute. This comprehensive leadership role spans the full continuum of care and includes oversight of Cardiology, Vascular, Pulmonology, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Rehabilitation, and the Wound Care Center, across both inpatient and outpatient services. As the operational and strategic leader for the Institute, the Assistant Vice President drives efforts to ensure equitable and timely patient access to high-quality care, while maintaining financial accountability and stewardship of departmental budgets. This role partners closely with system leadership, physicians, clinical teams, and administrative staff to lead transformative efforts that improve clinical outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate the patient experience. This leader works closely with senior executives, physician leaders, and community stakeholders to position the Heart and Vascular Institute as a regional destination for excellence in cardiovascular and pulmonary care. The Assistant Vice President ensures service delivery through a collaborative, patient-centered, and financially disciplined approach, supporting AtlantiCare's mission and strategic vision. This position supports organizational goals by championing quality, access, service excellence, innovation, and system-wide integration. The Assistant Vice President consistently demonstrates a commitment to performance improvement, cross-functional teamwork, and transformational leadership.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in related field required.
  • 5-10 years experience in a health related industry required, with responsibilities in management and/or program development.
  • Documented record of proven accomplishments within the areas of planning, fiscal management, and clinical practice management required.
  • Solid understanding of TQM, organizational vision and values; highly developed oral and written communication abilities, to include strong interrelationship skills, as well as organizational, analytical, financial and project management skills required.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and aligning the Institute's strategic priorities to support organizational growth, innovation, and market competitiveness.
  • Managing and integrating multiple specialty departments, ensuring cohesive, coordinated delivery of care across service lines and settings.
  • Monitoring and optimizing patient access, capacity, and throughput, with an emphasis on minimizing delays in care and improving health outcomes.
  • Developing, managing, and being accountable for operating and capital budgets, ensuring resource optimization, cost-effective practices, and strong financial performance.
  • Driving operational and clinical transformation, including process improvement, standardization of care pathways, technology adoption, and performance monitoring.
  • Building and sustaining high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Identifying and pursuing growth opportunities, including new service development, program expansion, and strategic partnerships, based on community needs and emerging healthcare trends.
  • Serving as a key liaison with medical staff leadership, supporting physician engagement, alignment, and collaboration in advancing Institute goals.
