The AVP Employee Communications fosters an Employee Powered culture, supports transformation, and connects employees to NFCU's mission, strategy, and values. Plan, direct and lead the practice area and team that drives communication and implementation of Employee Powered messaging and programs as we deliver on NFCU's mission to serve our members. Excel at stakeholder and client engagement, developing the team, and fostering functional and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Exemplary track record of partnering with leaders and cross-functional teams to co-craft, develop and deliver integrated solutions
  • Significant experience developing/managing large, complex, multi-channel and multi-stakeholder communications strategies that are aligned with key objectives
  • Significant experience establishing and advancing a department, practice or function; advancing service offerings and large-scale delivery
  • Ability to digest and convey complex concepts and present strategic plans
  • Strong track record of overseeing project and program management
  • Advanced ability developing high level roadmaps, facilitating leadership level planning sessions, clarifying scope of work, and developing robust programmatic campaigns
  • Significant experience building, managing, and developing teams and individuals by coaching and mentoring to grow expertise and effectiveness
  • Significant experience anticipating, managing, and resolving complex client needs and proactively addressing demand
  • Strong track record of embracing change - adopting, creating, implementing, and reinforcing new methodologies, creating sustainable and scalable practices
  • Significant experience collaborating closely with executives, program leads, and key partners across enterprise
  • Expert problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skill
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Human Resources, Organization Development, Business, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Responsibilities

  • Communications Strategy Proactively lead Employee Communications including integrated communication, content and channel planning, cultivating core narratives, harnessing insights and fostering connectedness
  • Ignite employees' understanding of the credit union's vision, strategy, operations and direction
  • Lead communications to continuously develop and deliver on our value proposition and culture
  • Lead robust content and channel strategies, inclusive of formal and informal communications, targeted and broad communication, and clear communication planning
  • Lead strategy and execution for C-Suite and top executive level communications
  • Support the success of key business and talent initiatives through integrated communications campaigns, targeting relevant audiences with differentiated messaging
  • Proactively partner, co-develop, and showcase communication roadmaps to drive alignment; ensure a coordinated approach and foster a streamlined and simplified experience
  • Develop and deliver an employee communications strategy and supplemental elements
  • Stay current on communication trends and provide practical and insightful thought leadership
  • Demonstrate an enterprise and functional leadership mindset
  • Anticipate organization needs and proactively recommend and implement solutions
  • Quickly adapt to new needs and methodologies; bring these through relevant workflows
  • Embrace and advance knowledge and use of technology and communication channels
  • Client/Stakeholder Management Maintain understanding of the business, industry, organizational priorities and objectives at the enterprise and business unit level; translate to communication strategy
  • Lead by example and act as a strategic partner to senior leaders, providing advice that reflects an understanding of their business, workforce needs, and leadership styles
  • Collaborate and work closely with others to develop employee communication content strategies that bring the NFCU story to life for a diverse and distributed workforce
  • Ensure that all Communications work aligns with key objectives, is effectively scoped, and ultimately delivers value to client and audience
  • Team Development & Capability Building Lead and cultivate an engaged, empowered, and high performing team; foster team comradery, inspire creative solutions, and provide coaching and capability-building within the team
  • Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
  • Champion thought leadership and build functional expertise for the team
  • Advance data & insights capabilities: including survey data, analytics, channel and program performance data, etc. to inform strategies and understand effectiveness
  • Advance integrated, programmatic, and change capabilities across the body of work
  • Operational Excellence & Delivery Lead resource planning, team allocation, capability building, define scope of work, and overall service and creative offerings provided by the division
  • Identify growth areas, gaps, opportunities and develop and implement solutions
  • Advance and oversee methodologies that drive enterprise value and experiences
  • Leverage roadmaps and calendars for shared visibility and alignment with stakeholder groups
  • Ensure communications materials, plans, and delivery are of the highest standards, developed and delivered within relevant timeframe and appropriate to audience and context
  • Ensure cross-training, business continuity, records retention, and compliance
  • Manage and oversee budget, and vendor, tool, and platform performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
