About The Position

The Assistant Vice President, Design Executive - Infrastructure position is responsible for managing all architectural and engineering design processes within the Delivery Services Office or an Integrated project to conform to professional industry and MTA C&D standards. This role fosters the development of technical skills and innovation in project management practices to enhance the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of capital projects. The position is eligible for telework one day per week, starting 30 days after the effective date of hire.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
• Minimum of fourteen (14) years of related experience.
• Minimum of ten (10) years in managing design projects or supervisory roles in a large, multi-faceted organization.
• A licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) is required.

Nice To Haves

• Significant experience in design project management for major construction projects with highly complex systems preferred.
• Experience leading and managing contractors, subcontractors, or vendors.
• Alternative Delivery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the entire design/design compliance review team.
• Fosters a culture of innovation and change in design delivery methods, technologies, and strategy.
• Provides the Delivery Service Office with lessons learned and strategies to streamline design reviews and creates training opportunities across integrated project teams.
• Establishes, monitors, and audits the Design-Builder's design and engineering activities for compliance with the Contract requirements and the Design-Builder's Quality Control Plan.
• Escalates issues to Vice President Design - Signals & Train Controls & Business Unit leadership as they arise amongst technical problems within projects/teams/third parties.
• Provides ultimate technical recommendations for any/all escalated items.
