About The Position

The Assistant Vice President, Data, Analytics, & Research works collaboratively with the data and analytics team and colleagues across the Council to solve organizational challenges related to data management, analytics, and research. Additionally, this role works closely with the Vice President, Marketing & Communications to bring innovative approaches to a variety of data and research projects within and across teams at NCARB. The Assistant Vice President, Data, Analytics, & Research is a key member of the NCARB Sr. Staff as they lead the development of advanced data and research strategies to enable NCARB to make data-driven decisions and shape the future of the organization. This individual oversees the processes and methodologies that ensure NCARB’s data and research practices are effective, accurate, and reliable. This individual should be an expert and well-versed in the gathering, processing, and sharing of data and information, while also capable of understanding the nuances of the mission and vision of NCARB and its regulatory domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience supporting interaction with and understanding of an organization’s data and research ecosystem.
  • Experience managing data and research projects from conception to delivery.
  • Understanding of modern data storage formats and best practices
  • Knowledge of working with cloud-based ecosystems and infrastructure, familiarity with AWS preferred
  • Experience with business intelligence (BI), ETL workflows, predictive analysis and reporting tools such as Tableau
  • Willingness and interest in new technologies, skills, and applications.
  • Passion for surfacing and communicating insights that help an organization grow and evolve.
  • Some minimal travel including weekends may occasionally be required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage direct reports to implement goals, objectives, and priorities of the Council.
  • Delegate and empower appropriately. Give appropriate recognition to others. Lead people toward meeting the Council’s vision, mission, and goals.
  • Consult with and keep supervisor informed on status of all projects.
  • Manage performance and professional development of direct reports.
  • Build coalitions internally and externally (with peers, direct reports, team members, Member Boards, volunteers, collateral and associated organizations, etc.) to share best practices and achieve common goals.
  • Facilitate cooperation and teamwork throughout the organization. Communicate and operate in an open manner so that decisions and actions are clear and visible.

  • Lead NCARB’s team of data subject matter experts
  • Represent the Data & Analytics function at the enterprise level, including at all senior staff meetings
  • Collaborate with other departments in the prioritization of the Council’s work and on cross-departmental project teams
  • Develop and maintain an annual budget to support the data function and its intended outcomes
  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Marketing & Communications, to prioritize the work within the team.
  • Lead the team’s workflow process, ensuring it runs smoothly and find ways to improve the process and procedures as needed.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of consultants and other external partners.
  • As needed, serve as a staff liaison for volunteer groups to ensure they complete their charges from the Board of Directors
  • Leverage domain expertise to act as a communicator and bridge the gap between raw data and useful insights
  • Manage data product lifecycles and deliverables
  • Elevate and reinforce NCARB’s standing as a thought-leader and go-to resource for factual, reliable data in the regulatory, architectural, and association environments
  • Lead the discovery, design, and execution of data-driven outcome measurement (KPIs) for departments and projects to support NCARB’s continuous improvement and innovation practices
  • Advocate for data ethics and best practices for all functions and departments across the Council and its collaborators
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to identify data points that support NCARB’s strategic initiatives, working jointly to establish and inform future NCARB communications efforts
  • Act as the in-house subject matter expert to guide, validate, and support research initiatives
  • Lead the development of NCARB research efforts, including customer-facing surveys and studies, as well as internal research efforts when requested
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and administer surveys as needed, ensuring surveys align with overall NCARB data and research efforts as well as survey best practices
  • Manage the analysis of research insights and delivery of reports on surveys, studies and other research efforts
  • Work with product owners and stakeholders to identify, prioritize, define and document analytical needs.
  • Drive and advocate for the value and opportunities for data in NCARB systems, projects, and programs.
  • Lead initiatives with vendors and services providers to ensure successful integration with NCARB data projects.
  • Define and implement the processes, mindsets, technologies, and expertise required to convert data to action.
