The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an accomplished and business-savvy leader to serve as Assistant Vice President (AVP), Campus Living and Learning. The AVP has primary responsibility for creating an inclusive and vibrant campus life for a growing and increasingly diverse student body. The position oversees and manages the following functions, with a combined budget of $45M: The Joe Crowley Student Union E.L. Wiegand Fitness Center Residential Life, Housing and Food Services The Career Studio. In addition, this position partners with the Assistant Vice President of Leadership and Engagement to provide student programming, as well as anticipate and support student needs. This position will work with the Dean of Students' office and others on campus in handling emergencies. This position reports to the Vice President for Student Services. Serving as a key leader, the Assistant Vice President aligns Student Life programs and services to create a campus environment where every student feels welcomed and supported. The role provides oversight and coordination of student life policies, procedures, and emergency protocols; advises faculty and staff on actions that safeguard student health and safety; and partners closely with the Dean of Students. This position drives evidence-based strategies that strengthen student retention and graduation rates while building integrated support systems for at-risk and underrepresented students. The Assistant Vice President mentors and develops teams of professionals and student leaders, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Through strategic planning, program assessment, and research grounded in student development theory and high-impact practices, this leader ensures continuous improvement, measurable outcomes, and meaningful impact. Oversight of departmental assessment plans, compliance, and reporting ensures services remain effective, equitable, and responsive to evolving student needs.
