About The Position

Martin Horn is a Charlottesville-based commercial general contractor looking for a motivated Assistant VDC Manager to help lead BIM and Virtual Design & Construction on our projects — with a clear path to grow into our VDC Manager role. You'll coordinate the capture and distribution of project progress reports to staff, produce preconstruction documentation and as-builts using Matterport, aerial, and ground capture cameras, and support our corporate QC program utilizing image capture and Trimble robotic total station. You'll also help our field teams use on-screen models effectively on-site and help us build out VDC workflows and standards as we grow. We'll invest in your development through mentorship, training, and increasing ownership of VDC strategy over time. Requirements

  • 2–4 years of VDC, reality capture, or commercial construction experience
  • Bachelor's in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks, CAD, and BIM tools; familiarity with reality capture technology (Matterport, drone platforms, Trimble)
  • Understanding of commercial construction drawings and MEP systems
  • FAA Part 107 certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable working with PMs, supers, subs, and designers
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Dynamo, Trimble robotic total station, 4D scheduling, or clash detection workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the capture, production, and distribution of project progress reports to field and office staff
  • Capture jobsites for preconstruction and produce as-builts utilizing Matterport, aerial (drone), and ground capture cameras
  • Coordinate the corporate QC program utilizing image capture and Trimble robotic total station
  • Support project teams and field staff in using on-screen models, CAD, BIM, and Navisworks for day-to-day coordination
  • Help develop and refine our company's VDC standards and best practices
  • Maintain a regular presence on active jobsites to support field coordination, site documentation, and quality capture
