About The Position

The Office of the Registrar at the University of South Florida (USF) plays a pivotal role in managing essential services for students, faculty, and staff, including the maintenance of student and academic records, scheduling, registration, graduation, and compliance with state and federal regulations. The Assistant University Registrar is responsible for overseeing the graduation certification process for OneUSF, ensuring that student records are processed accurately and in a timely manner. This position requires a proactive approach and independent judgment to gather and analyze relevant information, while also leading a team in the verification and coding of degree applications and the certification of degrees. The Assistant University Registrar acts as a liaison between the Office of the Registrar and various academic and student service units to facilitate the graduation process effectively. In addition to managing the graduation certification process, the Assistant University Registrar is tasked with developing data queries and analyses, producing summaries of graduate certifications by college and department, and preparing student records for submission to the Student Degree File (SDF). The role also involves strategic planning, enrollment management, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The Assistant University Registrar will collaborate with academic administrators and staff to resolve issues related to graduation certification and will serve as a key partner to the Commencement Office and other departments regarding graduation eligibility and student participation in commencement ceremonies. The position requires strong leadership skills, as the Assistant University Registrar will establish goals, prioritize tasks, and review the work of direct reports. The role emphasizes customer service, staff development, and maintaining a positive work environment. Additionally, the Assistant University Registrar is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of student data and compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This position may also involve serving on institutional committees and participating in continuity planning for essential functions during emergencies.
