About The Position

The Assistant Unit Manager (AUM) in Surgery at MarinHealth Medical Center is a frontline management role responsible for directing nursing staff to ensure a safe, patient-centered environment. Requirements

  • Current California State license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN within 5 years for qualified internal candidates.
  • BLS-HCP certification with American Heart Association as required by hospital policy.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification in monitored areas.
  • Two years of demonstrated direct patient care experience, or one year if MSN degree is held.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective leadership and conflict management.
  • Analytical skills for organizing unit activities and developing nursing care plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Nursing (MSN) degree.
  • Experience in a surgical unit or similar clinical care area.

Responsibilities

  • Direct staff to assure a safe patient-centered environment.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure continuity of care from shift to shift.
  • Serve as a resource and support to direct patient care Registered Nurses (RNs).
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to maximize customer service and professionalism.
  • Contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce.
  • Supervise and direct unit personnel to ensure effective and safe provision of nursing care.
  • Evaluate patient care needs and determine work priorities.
  • Interview, orient, and train unit nursing personnel.
  • Assist in developing and presenting in-service and educational programs.
  • Monitor unit for workplace safety and ensure compliance with policies.
