About The Position

The Assistant Underwriter will support the Underwriting Department of a financially stable and growing insurance company by evaluating risks associated with Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, and General Liability policies. This role is ideal for individuals seeking an entry-level opportunity in underwriting, with training provided to develop necessary skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma & 2 years of college coursework.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and record new business submissions in queue, assigning risks to the appropriate underwriter based on territory, agency, and other factors.
• Verify risk classification and enter data into rating software for underwriter review.
• Analyze inspection reports, MVRs, loss data, audits, and other information to assess risk and suggest improvements or terminations to Underwriters.
• Communicate with Underwriters and Agents to provide quotes, instructions, gather supplemental information, and ensure necessary forms are signed.
