Be our next: Transportation Planner Your work environment at EXP We are seeking a self-motivated, mid-level professional with a background in transportation and urban planning to join our well-established, but growing team. The role involves conducting transportation planning analysis, preparing data and studies, and managing various projects. You'll support senior planners with research, policy recommendations, report writing, and presentations, and help secure and manage planning contracts. Excellent writing, presentation, and analytical skills are essential, as well as effective communication with staff, the public, and clients. You'll provide technical support using GIS geospatial data and mapping resources and create graphics for reports and presentations. Our group offers technical planning support, multimodal and transit planning, safety planning, corridor planning, grants management, and policy analysis for private sector and governmental clients in South Florida. The position may also involve in-house support for staff augmentation.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of planning principles
  • Competency in various computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office, GIS, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and AutoCAD
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Motivated self-starter able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist Planners/Engineers in the evaluation of project designs, plans, and technical documents
  • Conduct basic office functions, as needed, such as data entry, file management, and customer service
  • Knowledge of research techniques
  • Knowledge of the transportation planning process and associated regulations
  • Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the audience
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to lay persons
  • Preparation of maps, graphics, reports, studies, and other publications relating to the transportation system.
  • Conduct field work, collect parcel data and search land records
  • Assist in facilitation of public meetings and outreach events associated with current and long-range planning projects
  • General support for Grants Management
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility to work on varying planning projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
