About The Position

This is entry level professional services and scientific work in the field of Engineering performing a variety of moderately complex engineering functions in support of construction and maintenance of public works structures, systems, and facilities and transportation engineering. The position will review preliminary and final plans for transportation and public works projects in order to determine compliance with engineering standards and project specifications; conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact; and evaluate transportation systems, traffic control devices, or lighting systems in order to determine the need for modification and/or expansion or to design, communicate, and implement traffic control plans and devices on individual projects. This position will require the knowledge of, or the ability to learn, engineering principles and practices; transportation planning, design, construction, and/or maintenance principles, practices, and techniques; and traffic and right of way issues relating to highway engineering.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field –OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, engineering principles and practices
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, transportation planning, design, construction, and/or maintenance principles, practices, and techniques
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, traffic and right of way issues relating to highway engineering
