About The Position

This position is responsible for all aspects of instruction, along with the development and management of a comprehensive NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country & Track & Field program as a component of the college experience, which enhances and supports the students’ liberal arts education.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
  • Strong communication and public relations, management, and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills in the areas of conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques;
  • Shall maintain current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships by working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have a current driver's license and meet the qualifications of an Assumption University Driver.

Nice To Haves

  • University coaching experience preferred
  • Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with all phases of the Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field
  • Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures set forth by Assumption University, the NE10 Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Responsible for promoting and maintaining an atmosphere of NCAA compliance amongst coaches and student-athletes.
  • Assists the Head Coach in organizing, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating practice sessions, games, and conditioning programs. Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices.?
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at their best in the classroom and on playing surfaces.
  • Assists with identifying, evaluating, and recruiting potential student-athletes.
  • Assists in coordinating personal development initiatives and community service activities for all student-athletes.
  • Position requires working weekends and nights.
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting purposes and a Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting purposes.
  • Participates in public relations activities and works closely with the University's athletic communications, marketing, and fundraising programs. Attends athletic development/alumni functions, academic/athletic honors, and other special events as designated by the University.
  • Represents the sports programs in the community as appropriate.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country & Track Field
