About The Position

The role of an Avenues coach is to instruct our student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary to realize individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must provide a foundation for integrity, pride of accomplishment, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork and self-confidence. Assistant Coaches will: Support head coach in promoting the mission of the program Contribute to and/or run practice sessions Gather and record statistical information Attend all scheduled games and practices Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings and events

Requirements

Assistant coaches have 1+ years of coaching or related experience
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff and the athletics department
Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to get training before the season commences
Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those having experience with the desired age category
Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game are essential to this position
Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to our student athletes by following our school and athletic mission
Please note that this is a part time and seasonal position averaging 5-10 hours per week.
Varsity roles meet 4x per week and Middle School roles meet 3x per week.
Practices are 1.5 hours each and competitions last up to 1.5 hours, not including travel time.
On race days, athletes leave between 2:00 pm-3:00 pm , so candidates should be available at this time as well.
You must be eligible to work in the United States and be living in New York or the surrounding area during the season.
