About The Position

Thompson Rivers Parks & Recreation District is seeking a fun and energetic individual that can help us provide a healthy, happy community through people, parks, programs and partnerships! This individual will help emphasize skill development, fair play, teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, responsibility, and fun on a part-time basis for the ages 3-16 years old. Each participant should be provided a safe and fun environment. Classes for this position will include the following activity: Track & Field.

Requirements

Must be 15 years of age or older.
Have a desire to work with children.
Have enthusiasm.
Have patience.
Attend the coaches meeting that is scheduled by the Recreation Department.
Knowledge of the sport you are coaching.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with coaches, staff and the public.
Ability to understand and work with kids aged 3-16 years old.
Ability to handle emergency situations using good judgement.

Nice To Haves

Previous coaching experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Teach fundamental skills to the children while emphasizing skill development, fair play, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.
Teach skills in a developmentally appropriate stage.
Execute practice plans.
Be on time at all practices and meets.
Enforce Thompson Rivers Parks & Recreation District’s parent code of conduct.
Report any problems with fields, equipment, player behavior, parent behavior or officials or other organizations to the Head Track Coach.
