About The Position

The Virginia Military Institute (VMI), a small NCAA Division I institution located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley of Southwest Virginia, is seeking a qualified coach to fill the position of Men's and Women's Track & Field Assistant Coach, with primary responsibilities in short sprints, jumps, and multi-events in the Southern Conference. The successful candidate will: Assist in organizing and directing all phases of the Track and Field Program. Recruit and evaluate potential student-athletes. Coordinate team travel arrangements. Design and implement training programs focused on athlete development, injury prevention, and performance enhancement Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic department, and VMI administration to support student-athlete academic progress and personal development Perform administrative duties and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Ensure compliance with VMI, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Coaching experience or experience as a collegiate student-athlete in short sprints, jumps, and multi-events at the collegiate or high school level
  • Current USATF Level I certification and/or USTFCCCA Jump Event Specialist certification

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years of coaching experience
  • USATF Level II certification (preferred in sprints or jumps)
  • USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning certification
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Work well within a team environment and meet deadlines while balancing multiple tasks.
