About The Position

The purpose of this position would be to introduce the student to the mechanic culture of repair. This will include developing the students problem solving abilities while introducing the candidate to the very real physical aspects of repairing and maintaining various college owned vehicles and equipment, with the goal of understanding the relationship between cleverly designed machines and the reality of repairing and maintaining them. The candidate will be working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions, so they must dress appropriately with hard toe shoes or boots, and long pants. They can expect to get dirty.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a declared mechanical engineering major and at least eighteen years of age.
  • A valid driver's license is required, as the operation of college owned vehicles is a given.
  • Must dress appropriately with hard toe shoes or boots, and long pants.

Responsibilities

  • Performing maintenance, operation and repair tasks of various college vehicles and equipment.
  • Oil changes
  • Tire rotations and repairs
  • Filter replacement tasks
  • Brake repair and replacement tasks
  • Modification of existing equipment
  • Salvage of retired equipment
