JOB SUMMARY Provide optimum test solutions and strategies through the effective management of people, systems, procedures, and equipment. Lead strong test development initiatives, including hardware and software validation, automated test architecture, and data-driven decision systems. Drive innovation and continuous improvement within Test Engineering by leveraging advanced test development methodologies, SQL-based data systems, and automation technologies. Provide exceptional support to customers, team members, and shareholders while ensuring robust, scalable, and data-centric test solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of automated test development, system-level validation, and test architecture design.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL including query writing, joins, aggregations, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of database structure, data integrity, and manufacturing data systems (MES/iFactory integration preferred).
  • Ability to analyze large datasets to drive yield improvement, downtime reduction, and process optimization.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific and technical information.
  • Ability to respond to customer and regulatory inquiries effectively.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • Advanced PC skills including Excel, Power BI, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in environments with limited standardization.
  • Strong and convincing communication skills.
  • Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement and cost reduction programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Test Engineering, including automated test development and SQL-based data systems.
  • Minimum two (2) years of management or technical leadership experience.
  • Or a combination of education, experience, and/or training.

  • Experience supporting large-form assembly (LFA) or system-level manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview and hire Test Engineers and Technicians with strong backgrounds in test development, automation, and SQL/data analytics.
  • Communicate criteria to recruiters for Test Engineer and Test Technician position candidates, including software, database, and systems integration skillsets.
  • Coach Test Engineers/Technicians in the interviewing/hiring process.
  • Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.
  • Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis, particularly in automated test development, scripting, and database analytics.
  • Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility including SQL, test software development, and data analysis tools.
  • Coach and mentor Test Engineering staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
  • Create and manage succession plans for Test Engineering functions.
  • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (operational metrics, yield improvement, test coverage, SQL data integrity, system uptime, project timelines, etc.).
  • Solicit ongoing feedback from Workcell Manager (WCM), Business Unit Manager (BUM), peers and team members. Provide coaching and counseling based on feedback.
  • Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
  • Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
  • Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve key operational metrics including FPY, cycle time, downtime, and test data accuracy.
  • Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
  • Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently.
  • Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information within the department.
  • Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use appropriate business style.
  • Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
  • Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt accordingly.
  • Know and understand campus strategic directions.
  • Define, develop and implement Test Engineering strategies that include strong automated test development and SQL-driven data systems.
  • Develop an understanding of the Workcell business strategy as it pertains to Test Engineering and digital factory integration.
  • Provide regular updates to BUM, WCM, and Operations Manager on strategy execution and test system performance.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (automation, database optimization, elimination of manual data collection, improved test coverage).
  • Utilize tools and SQL-based reporting systems to monitor departmental cost and cost trends.
  • Provide feedback to peers on cost performance and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare timely forecasts for the department including test capacity, equipment utilization, and data infrastructure requirements.
  • Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results using data analytics for trend assessment.
  • Lead strong test development initiatives including automated test software architecture, hardware validation strategies, and system-level test integration.
  • Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting, SQL-based analysis, and metrics management.
  • Design, develop, validate, and sustain automated test software using structured programming practices and version control.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to support MES/iFactory and test data collection systems.
  • Ensure data integrity, traceability, and accuracy within test databases.
  • Assess the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by the Workcells and implement improvements where needed.
  • Establish new measurement systems where possible, leveraging SQL dashboards and analytics platforms.
  • Evaluate customer test strategies and recommend scalable, automated test solutions.
  • Drive the development of specialized test equipment, fixtures, and software platforms.
  • Support integration between test systems and enterprise platforms (MES, ERP, digital factory dashboards).
  • Manage procurement and lifecycle of test equipment and supporting IT infrastructure.
  • Periodically get down in the trenches during NPI launches or troubled Workcells to stabilize test systems and data pipelines.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to company policies (Health, Safety, Quality, Security).
  • Handle all sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
