About The Position

The Assistant Tennis Coach at the University of Chicago plays a vital role in supporting the Head Coach in planning, coaching, recruiting, and promoting the athletics program in accordance with NCAA and University standards. This position involves teaching skills to student-athletes, evaluating performance, and providing guidance on athletic, academic, and personal matters, while also ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of two years of significant and relevant playing or teaching/coaching experience in tennis.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (may be fulfilled upon employment).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, coach, and mentor student-athletes.
  • Recruit qualified prospects and plan logistics for practice and competition.
  • Develop and implement strategies for training and competition.
  • Evaluate team and individual performance to provide technical and strategic advice.
  • Counsel student-athletes on athletic, academic, and personal needs.
  • Adhere to University and state law requirements regarding mandatory reporting and campus security.
  • Participate in staff meetings and planning sessions.
  • Assist in planning and executing athletic events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the head coach.
