About The Position

Printfresh is a Philadelphia-based lifestyle brand known for joyful prints, thoughtful details, and well-made pieces that feel special and wearable. We design sleepwear, apparel, and accessories that blend comfort, color, and craft, with a strong emphasis on fit, quality, and longevity. Position Overview: The Assistant Technical Designer supports the Technical Design function across sleepwear and apparel, helping bring designs to life through clear specifications, accurate fit, and thoughtful construction. Working closely with Design, Product Development, and overseas vendors, this role plays a key part in the day-to-day execution of product development—supporting tech packs, fittings, sample reviews, and factory communication to ensure garments meet Printfresh’s standards for fit, quality, and comfort. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is excited to gain exposure across categories while growing alongside a creative, fast-moving brand.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (required).
  • Strong measurement accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple styles at once.
  • Comfortable working with overseas vendors and production timelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field.
  • 1–3+ years of experience in technical design (sleepwear experience is a plus).
  • Understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, and fit.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and interest in plus-size, petite, and tall garment fit and construction
  • Experience with knit and woven garments.
  • Familiarity with 3D tools (such as CLO).
  • Experience working in small or fast-growing brands.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and maintaining detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction details, and comments.
  • Measure samples accurately and compare against specs.
  • Check in samples and organize the fit list.
  • Participate in fit sessions (sleepwear + apparel); take detailed notes and update tech packs accordingly.
  • Pre-review samples prior to fittings to flag issues early.
  • Help troubleshoot fit, construction, and grading issues with guidance from senior team members.
  • Support Track samples and updates throughout the development process.
  • Communicate fit comments and corrections clearly to vendors and factories.
  • Support timelines and approvals within the product development calendar.
  • Ensure garments meet quality, tolerance, and safety standards.
  • Assist with technical flat sketches and corrections as needed.
  • Work closely with Design, Production, and Merchandising to ensure product intent is executed correctly.
  • Review customer feedback and returns data to help identify recurring fit or construction issues.
  • Stay curious about fabrics, construction techniques, and industry best practices.
