About The Position

The Department of Philosophy & Religion and the Shackouls Honors College invite applicants for a non-tenure track appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025. This role will be responsible for teaching and service. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department. Will serve half-time as a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy and half-time as a Faculty Fellow in the Shackouls Honors College.

Requirements

• Successful applicants will hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or related discipline at time of appointment and demonstrate potential to teach at the college level.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

• The ability to work as a member of an multidisciplinary team of scholars is desirable.

Responsibilities

• 4/4 teaching load.
• Schedule and maintain specific office hours for the purpose of answering student questions and preparing lecturers and other class material.
• Mentor honors students from a variety of different majors.
• Teach seminars in the liberal arts tradition and perform service roles related to instruction and pedagogy.
