The Department of Communication within the College of Arts & Letters at The University of Tampa seeks a dynamic candidate with diverse teaching expertise as a full time Assistant Teaching Professor beginning August 15, 2026. The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UTampa reflects this vibrancy; with 30 consecutive years of enrollment growth UTampa boasts 260 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and more than 100 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News and World Report. The teaching load is 4 courses (16 credit hours) per semester over two 15-week semesters per academic year. The ideal candidate is an excellent teacher who holds a Ph.D. or terminal degree with teaching/research interests primarily in Communication & Speech Studies and Professional Communication. This line is a full-time, non-tenure track position eligible for promotion. The faculty member will primarily teach the basic courses within the undergraduate degree in Communication & Speech Studies, which includes SPE 208 (Speech for Business and the Professions) and SPE 200 (Oral Communication). The faculty member will also have the potential to teach upper division undergraduate courses in the Communication and Speech Studies program and in the graduate program in Professional Communication (MAPC). Instructional faculty are teacher-scholars informed by their area of study when teaching and mentoring students. The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and have proven experience engaging students in learning-by-doing, on-campus engagement, scholarship, and conference activity. This colleague will be joining faculty in the Communication and Speech Studies program, which is one of four programs within the Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Letters. This new team member will be relied upon to support the growth of our flourishing program. This position is in beautiful Tampa, Florida.
