About The Position

As an Assistant Teacher at Easterseals, you will play a vital role in enriching the lives of children and supporting their development. For over a century, Easterseals has been dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion through transformative services for children, adults, caregivers, and veterans. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and accepted. Our collaborative culture emphasizes teamwork, allowing us to work together to support children in the best ways possible. We celebrate achievements, whether it's earning your Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or marking an anniversary with Easterseals. Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve, creating an environment where everyone can thrive and experience the joy of learning. In this role, you will work closely with the lead teacher to create inclusive activities for all children, including those with disabilities. You will help plan engaging classroom activities that align with Easterseals and NAEYC guidelines, ensuring a motivating and nurturing classroom environment. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing child health, safety, and well-being, assisting with feeding, toileting, and cleanliness, and performing additional duties as needed to support the center's operations and the children's well-being. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the lead teacher with the overall daily classroom operations, providing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. You will maintain a clean, safe, organized, and appealing classroom environment, adhering to all health and safety procedures and policies as outlined by regulatory bodies. Encouraging appropriate health, safety, and nutritional practices among children and adults is essential. You will also interact frequently with children, modeling and encouraging developmentally appropriate social behavior and expectations, and engaging in conversations that expand their learning. Professionalism and teamwork are crucial, as you will need to maintain consistent attendance, attend mandatory meetings and trainings, and develop positive relationships with colleagues. Your role will also involve making routine decisions regarding classroom management, creating and implementing lesson plans, and communicating with parents about their children's progress.
