Assistant Teacher
About The Position
The Learning Experience – Hell’s Kitchen is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team. This role supports classrooms serving infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children in a structured, play-based learning environment. Our school focuses on building confidence, curiosity, and social-emotional growth through hands-on learning and consistent daily routines. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with Lead Teachers and leadership to maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment while supporting children throughout their day.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must meet all NYC childcare licensing and background requirements
- Reliable, flexible, and team-oriented
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a daycare, preschool, or childcare setting preferred
- Early Childhood Education coursework a plus
- CPR and First Aid preferred or willingness to obtain
Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Teachers with implementing activities aligned with the L.E.A.P. curriculum
- Support classroom routines including meals, transitions, rest time, and play
- Engage children in age-appropriate learning experiences across multiple classrooms as needed
- Help maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety
- Communicate professionally with families during arrival and dismissal
- Follow all NYC Department of Health licensing and safety regulations
- Collaborate with teaching teams to ensure smooth daily operations
