About The Position

Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Teacher will plan, organize, conduct and deliver a quality age-appropriate program for children. The Assistant Teacher will work as part of the Early Childhood Team to deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA. Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Qualified according to State guidelines
  • Certified in first aid and CPR

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for children in care and operating within the YMCA and state guidelines
  • May be responsible for opening the center, closing classroom; occasionally oversee classroom for the first two hours of center operation and one hour during nap time
  • Maintain Center in clean and hazard free state; proactively clean and/or repair areas
  • Present self as a positive role model, maintain neat and clean appearance
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and training
  • Report on suspected child abuse situations to the Director
  • Assist in other classrooms as necessary
  • Maintain classroom records regarding accidents, medications and attendance
  • Actively participate in children's activities which promote the Center's goals and objectives
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans
