About The Position

The Learning Experience – River Vale is seeking a dependable and caring Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to grow their career in a daycare or preschool setting. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside a Lead Teacher to help create a warm, supportive learning environment where children feel safe, engaged, and excited to learn.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required (minimum requirement).
Experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, babysitting, or camp setting preferred.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of basic early childhood practices is helpful, but training is provided.
Must meet all New Jersey childcare licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines and activities.
Help supervise children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
Support classroom learning using age-appropriate play, storytelling, art, and hands-on activities.
Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
Assist with mealtimes, diapering/toileting (as age appropriate), transitions, and daily routines.
Communicate any classroom needs or concerns to the Lead Teacher and Center Leadership Team.
