About The Position

Temporary, Staff, Part Time, Non-Benefited, through 6/30/2026 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). Salary: $17.00-$18.50 per hour. Location: Children's Center at CSUSB. Work Schedule Up to 19 hours per week. Variable work schedule based on needs of program; Program is typically open Monday through Friday 7:00AM-5:30PM. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have at least 24 units in early childhood development/child development/Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies.
  • Applicants must have extensive knowledge of DAP and have experience teaching in a early learning program.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, responsive caregiving, and have excellent interpersonal skills, have a friendly, helpful, professional attitude, be reliable, dependable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Have effective organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to lift children as needed and be certified in CPR and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in NAEYC Accredited Program.
  • B.A. in Child Development, Early Childhood, Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies or related field.
  • CTC Teacher Permit.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision and direction of classroom master teachers, the incumbent will support the preparation and implementation of activities tailored to the individual needs of each child (in the areas of language, social, emotional, creativity, science, cognitive, multi-cultural, physical, and perceptual) and be a DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practices) role model of effective teacher-child interaction in the implementation of the daily operation of the program.
  • The incumbent will supervise and work effectively with undergraduate and graduate students and others in daily activities of a preschool at a university, including student observations, research, student interns, etc.
  • The incumbent will maintain records according to State guidelines, maintain child assessments and developmental evaluations, work and communicate effectively with parents and assist in monitoring center according to licensing regulations.
  • The incumbent will also follow State health and safety guidelines, participate in and conduct on-going staff development trainings and planning meetings. 21 hours of professional development are required annually.
  • Teachers will be responsible for CACFP meal counts when nutrition assistants are not available.
  • The incumbent will support both preschool classrooms by floating as needed and supporting breaks/lunches for other teachers.
  • Limited travel may be required for training, conferences and other professional development opportunities.
