About The Position

The YMCA is looking for Assistant Teachers in several Greater Cleveland licensed locations, and you're welcome to apply at multiple sites! You'll develop positive, nurturing relationships with children while building cooperative connections with their caregivers. All this with the freedom to create adventures and have a lifelong impact! This is an excellent opportunity for college students studying early education and adults seeking a flexible part time schedule. Please note that invitations for interviews are sent by email. We offer a competitive wage and a shift differential for those who can work both the morning and afternoon shifts.

Requirements

You're over 18
You have a high school diploma or GED
You've worked with children, especially in a licensed childcare or educational environment
Able to lift and move up to 50lbs.
Sound perception at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Able to orally communicate and instruct.

enrollment in a relevant degree-seeking program is a plus

Responsibilities

Provide an engaging, physically and emotionally safe, and inclusive environment to encourage play, exploration, and learning.
Encourage active participation and age-appropriate social interactions.
Develop friendly and respectful relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.
Identify, document, and report suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law. All YMCA employees are mandated reporters of child abuse.
Implement weekly lesson plans.
Assist with data collection on growth, development, and learning.
