About The Position
The Learning Experience – River Vale is seeking a dependable and caring Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to grow their career in a daycare or preschool setting. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside a Lead Teacher to help create a warm, supportive learning environment where children feel safe, engaged, and excited to learn.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required (minimum requirement).
- Experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, babysitting, or camp setting preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of basic early childhood practices is helpful, but training is provided.
- Must meet all New Jersey childcare licensing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines and activities.
- Help supervise children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
- Support classroom learning using age-appropriate play, storytelling, art, and hands-on activities.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Assist with mealtimes, diapering/toileting (as age appropriate), transitions, and daily routines.
- Communicate any classroom needs or concerns to the Lead Teacher and Center Leadership Team.
