As an Assistant Teacher at CEDARS Youth Services, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and well-being of children aged 6 weeks to 6 years at the Northbridge Early Childhood Development Center (NBECDC). This position is part-time, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM, and offers a competitive pay rate of $14.50 per hour. Your primary responsibility will be to create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and culturally appropriate environment for the children in your care. This includes positive role modeling, effective supervision, and behavior management, as well as organizing and implementing curriculum activities tailored to the individual needs of each child. You will work closely with the lead teacher to develop and implement daily schedules that encompass health, transportation, meals, rest, and curriculum activities. It is essential to abide by all State of Nebraska Childcare Licensing regulations and Council of Accreditation standards while documenting complete and accurate information regarding the children according to the organization's policies and procedures. This documentation may include incident reports, daily communication with parents, and other required program documentation. In addition to your classroom responsibilities, you will assist in planning and attending parent conferences and family events related to early childhood development. Establishing and maintaining relationships with families that foster trust and respect is vital, as is providing parents with relevant child development information and positive communication regarding their child. Flexibility is required, as you may need to move between classrooms depending on the number of children present. CEDARS is committed to diversity and inclusion, and you will be expected to be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the clients and families served.
