Now Hiring: Bilingual Assistant Teacher in McMinnville (Spanish & English Speaking). This position is responsible for supporting families with children aged 5 and younger, assisting with classroom prep, instruction, child guidance, and driving. The role also involves supporting the Parent Education Program with childcare and classroom/food prep and set-up.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience in an early childhood classroom and/or childcare
  • Ability to adapt, work effectively under pressure, and work with children who have a variety of stresses/challenges
  • Ability to work with parents and their children in a warm, calming, respectful, encouraging, and patient manner
  • Ability to pass Oregon's Central Background Registry
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a vehicle
  • Willing to get CPR/First Aid, Food Handler's Card, and Mandatory Reporter training within 6 months of hire
  • All candidates must be 21 years of age or older at the time of hire

Responsibilities

  • Help with lesson planning, class instruction, child guidance, diapering/toileting, serving meals, as well as setting up and cleaning up the classroom
  • Assist with the transportation of children
  • Assist with childcare for Parent Education class as needed, up to two classes per week
  • Provide a calm demeanor in crisis situations
  • Maintain open, positive communication and promote individual/group problem-solving skills with children, families, co-workers, and the community
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served
