About The Position

Responsible for assisting the Head Swim Coach with developing a competitive swim program centered around fun and comradery, while ensuring a safe and well-organized environment for all participants during the summer swim team season (May-August).

Requirements

  • Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Strong background in competitive swimming, prior experience as a swim instructor/coach preferred.
  • Ability to adapt and problem-solve in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to support a positive and motivating culture amongst athletes, parents, coaching staff, and the aquatics department.
  • Coaches Safety Training certification.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent (or higher), including CPR for the professional Rescuer, infant/child CPR, AED training, and First Aid (preferred).
  • American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid Training or equivalent.
  • Athlete Protection and Concussion Training.

Nice To Haves

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive team culture by motivating swimmers through sportsmanship, safety, and skill development in a fun and positive manner while also enforcing facility rules at all practices and meets.
  • Conduct swim practices under the direction of the Head Coach, with an emphasis on swimmer engagement, age-appropriate training methods, and proper stroke technique. Coaching will take place on deck and require in-water instruction to support athlete development.
  • Represent Farmington Country Club in a professional capacity during practices, meets, and events.
  • Assist with all required procedures for home swim meets, including equipment setup, breakdown, and deck support.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of designated storage areas, office space, and the pool deck during practices and swim meets.
  • Assist in planning and participating in all team spirit and extra-curricular activities throughout the season.
  • Work closely with Jr. Coaches to provide mentorship, real-time instruction, and on-deck experience to support professional growth.
  • Assist the Head Coach in preparing meet lineups, entries, and pre- and post- meet reports using appropriate software to maintain accurate team statistics.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of swim team communications, meet ribbons, and seasonal materials as assigned.
  • Adhere to and actively enforce all club policies, procedures, and safety regulations during practice and swim meets.
  • Monitor, identify and promptly respond to potential hazards or safety concerns in and around the aquatic environment during practices and meets.
