About The Position

Overlake Golf & Country Club (OGCC) was originally established in 1927 on this beautiful site in the hidden neighborhood of Medina, Washington. It has evolved over the years into a family country club with modern values and has become a place where the members gather to enjoy dining, social activities, golf, tennis and aquatics with family, friends, and business associates. We are known as the premier family club in the Pacific Northwest, and we take great pride in our unrivaled hospitality, our commitment to environmental stewardship, and in developing our staff. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Overlake Otters are Overlake Golf & Country Club’s Summer Swim League Team. The Overlake Otters team is comprised of over 100 swimmers, ages 6-18 years old, and runs in conjunction with our Mini Otters team of over 20 swimmers, ages 3-8 years old. The Otters compete as part of the Midlakes Summer Swim League, competing against swim clubs around the Seattle and Bellevue area. The season runs from mid-May through the end of July. Practices run daily afterschool from May to June and then in the mornings from June through July. The team runs a Saturday morning clinic and participates in two swim meets each week starting in June. In addition to practices and meets, the team engages in many social events like Otter Field Day, Champs Dinners, and more. Assistant Coaches are responsible for developing the swimmers’ skills through practice plans and coaching, guiding swimmers through the competitive season, and helping to create a community of fun and excitement during the summer. Coaches are also able to schedule and teach additional commission-based private and small-group swim lessons. COMPANY CORE VALUES Evolving, Welcoming, Enriching, Healthy, and Fun!

Requirements

  • Must be able to work with children and adults of all ages and abilities.
  • Must be available for weekends and / or evening work.
  • Ability to teach proper competitive swimming techniques.
  • Strong leadership experience and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in kinesiology, sports medicine, or another relevant field is preferred but not required.
  • Lifeguard certification or willingness to acquire upon hiring.
  • Experience with Midlakes Swim League or similar summer swim leagues.

Responsibilities

  • Run age group practices and assist in workout preparations and planning.
  • Assist with Swim Team communications and administration.
  • Attend and help direct operations during swim meets and team events.
  • Help coordinate the parent volunteer program.
  • Assist in oversite of swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety rules to team.
  • Report any incidents immediately to supervisor and complete all appropriate paperwork.
  • Be available to teach private or group swim lessons in addition to coaching practices.
