About The Position

This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services, Inpatient Department (Women's Health Unit/Labor and Delivery), at Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The primary purpose is to supervise, manage, direct, coordinate, provide leadership, review work and evaluates the provision of nursing care in the inpatient unit. This position reports to the Supervisory Nurse.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State.
  • A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
  • Measles, Rubella, and seasonal influenza immunization required for selectees born after 1957.
  • Must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a specialty area of nursing.
  • Experience providing guidance to Labor & Delivery/Post Partum nursing staff.
  • Experience in developing staff schedules and assisting with mediation of staff conflict.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, manages, coordinates and evaluates the nursing program for Women's Health Unit/Labor and Delivery (WHU).
  • Organizes, directs, reviews work, administers personnel matters, counseling, disciplinary action, scheduling, and overall management activities.
  • Develops and implements Nursing Standards of Care, includes compliance with accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Maintains records for patient assignments, census, and chart reviews.
  • Maintains a variety of unit records, supplies and other related activities as Performance Improvement.
  • Performs Nurse duties for scheduled non-supervisory shifts, maintains professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education.
