About The Position

Execute all required responsibilities of a Sites Worker as needed. Support in coordinating grounds maintenance, landscaping, and tree maintenance/removal at District facilities. Regularly update school personnel on the progress of work orders through on-the-job observations and feedback from site staff. Assist in instructing personnel on performing specific tasks as needed. Use basic district computer applications for communication, training, and record-keeping. Notify the supervisor of any problem areas or issues in work completion. Ensure compliance with equipment maintenance schedules. Assist in the hiring and training of new personnel. Work effectively under the pressure of tight deadlines, personnel shortages, and multiple requests. Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures. Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. Any job-related duties as assigned. Revised: 08/27/2024

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in grounds, landscaping, and tree maintenance/removal.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the planting and care of trees, shrubbery, flowers, and grass as they relate to the maintenance of school sites.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and grounds diagrams.
  • Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of experience in grounds, landscaping, and tree maintenance/removal.
  • Valid Florida Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL with air brakes endorsement.
  • Proven experience successfully supervising business/department functions.
  • Relevant experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
