About The Position

Under general supervision, this Full-Time position assists the Operation team with the supervision and daily management of the part time Play and Program Team. This includes, but is not limited to, training, scheduling, supervision, coaching, and cross team collaboration. This is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt position. Typical days for this position are Tuesday-Saturday, with primary Supervisor roles at least 3 days a week.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience supervising staff in an informal setting or in a similar capacity.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record required
  • Must understand and apply related laws, rules, regulations, ethics, standards, policies and procedures applicable to the work.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including using email, Internet, Windows, Microsoft Office and other computer systems.

  • Oral Communication - Exceptional communication, phone and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide variety of clientele and internal personnel

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred, equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience in the museum or other informal education field preferred.
  • Knowledge or work in visitor services or other guest facing environments.
  • Outstanding proficiency in oral and written English language communication. Additional languages are a plus, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Training and Supervision: Train all newly hired staff on the basics and foundation of their new role. Evaluate and monitor Play and Program Staff and their performance on the museum floor. Identify needs for training and coaching while working with the Floor Operation Supervisor to ensure all staff are meeting Baseline Expectations and our high standard of excellence.
  • Play and Program Staff scheduling: Creating daily schedules and templates that will optimize operations for the Play and Program Team. Work in collaboration with the Floor Operation Supervisor to update and maintain Staffing tools.
  • Operations inventory management: Works with the Floor Operation Supervisor to effectively manage and communicate operational inventory requirements. Develop and implement optimal procedures for monitoring, tracking, and replenishing inventory, ensuring seamless operations and resource availability.
  • Trainings: Collaborates with the Operation team to design and execute targeted operational training programs for the front-line staff. This proactive involvement aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team, fostering a more proficient and adaptable workforce.
  • Backup: Takes on the responsibility of serving as the key backup for the Floor Operation Supervisor, specifically during Fridays and Saturdays, and when essential for holiday and vacation coverage. This role involves addressing callouts and offering additional support as needed on the floor to cover those call outs.
  • Support Larger Museum. Facilitates communication of Operational information to all departments. Actively engage in cross-team planning and collaboration, bringing a creative mindset to problem-solving initiatives.
  • Professional Learning: Must attend 6 or more professional learning developments offered through Kidspace each year to inform and guide practice.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
