About The Position

The Assistant Supervisor of Chamber Hospitality plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of high-profile catered events at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This position is a critical member of the Chamber Hospitality team to ensure seamless service delivery, professional presentation, and adherence to the highest standards of hospitality. Reporting to Chamber Hospitality leadership, the ideal candidate helps oversee beverage service, event staff, and logistics teams, while serving as a key liaison with catering partners and vendors. The candidate possesses exceptional food and beverage service standards and thrives in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively with event planners, vendors, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure each event’s success.

Requirements

  • Experience in catering, banquet, or hotel food and beverage operations.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet service standards, event timelines, and hospitality best practices.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills and able to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for early mornings (5 a.m.), evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand and/or walk for extended periods.
  • ServSafe or TIPS certification or a willingness to obtain.

  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Chamber Hospitality Department in planning and executing events and daily orders.
  • Oversee all banquet setups, service, and breakdowns in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Lead and supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff during events, promoting teamwork and proactive service.
  • Monitor service activities from start to finish to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to event specifications.
  • Serve as the liaison between catering partners, service staff, vendors, and Chamber departments to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Review and execute catering orders, confirming that all updates, changes, and event details are properly reflected.
  • Ensure that departmental policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Help manage and maintain accurate inventory of food, beverages, and equipment, coordinating with vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Oversee delivery and receipt of food, beverage, event rentals, and supply orders.
  • Support overall event execution by fostering collaboration and maintaining a high level of professionalism and service quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the senior director, Event Planning and Operations.
