This position assists the project superintendent with the assigned scope of responsibility; monitors and coordinates subcontractor work and, when appropriate, self-perform activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance
  • Coordinates and communicates with vendors, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion
  • Assists in supervising various self-perform features of work
  • Tracks jobsite labor production for self-perform work and report findings to Project Manager and/or Superintendent
  • Studies plans and specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
  • Creates project management documentation that may include schedules, progress charts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, jobsite controls, tracking reports, daily reports, etc.
  • May have informal supervisory responsibilities through the training, coaching, or mentoring of other Project Engineers
  • Exercises initiative or, as directed, performs additional duties to meet the needs of the organization
  • Advises senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.; assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required
  • As directed, coordinates work among various subcontractors to achieve a smooth project completion
  • Actively reviews the work performance to assure good quality control and make certain work conforms with plans and specifications

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with and function well within a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn new computer programs for project management / reporting purposes
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college, university, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years or more of related work experience preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • May have supervisory responsibilities over skilled trades/projects engineers
