Nature of Work Assists the project superintendent with the assigned scope of responsibility; monitors and coordinates subcontractor work and, when appropriate, self-perform activities

Requirements

Ability to collaborate with and function well within a team-oriented environment
Ability to read and interpret construction documents
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new computer programs for project management / reporting purposes
A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college, university, or equivalent experience
3 years or more of related work experience preferred
May have supervisory responsibilities over skilled trades/projects engineers

Responsibilities

Conducts workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance
Coordinates and communicates with vendors, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion
Assists in supervising various self-perform features of work
Tracks jobsite labor production for self-perform work and report findings to Project Manager and/or Superintendent
Studies plans and specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
Creates project management documentation that may include schedules, progress charts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, jobsite controls, tracking reports, daily reports, etc.
May have informal supervisory responsibilities through the training, coaching, or mentoring of other Project Engineers
Exercises initiative or, as directed, performs additional duties to meet the needs of the organization
Advises senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.; assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required
As directed, coordinates work among various subcontractors to achieve a smooth project completion
Actively reviews the work performance to assure good quality control and make certain work conforms with plans and specifications
