About The Position

Assistant Superintendent Edison, NJ Position Summary: Silgan Containers is seeking a motivated Assistant Superintendent to support plant operations with a strong focus on quality, production efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment while partnering with plant leadership to maintain operational excellence. You will be challenged to evaluate production performance, identify improvement opportunities, and help drive results in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and basic quality tools
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes
  • Self-directed with strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel to foster a team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present in small and large group settings
  • Willingness and ability to spend 40%+ of time on the production floor
  • Flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to grow within the organization, including relocation opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Champion plant quality initiatives by reviewing inspection reports and addressing gaps to maintain standards
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of can/end components and manufacturing equipment
  • Review production reports and take action to maintain efficiencies within established guidelines
  • Lead and enforce safety programs, policies, and housekeeping standards
  • Promote effective communication across all levels of the plant to support a collaborative work environment
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Plant Supervisors and Management Trainees
  • Administer and enforce company and plant policies, procedures, and work practices
  • Support resource control efforts, including reviewing labor and approving records in Kronos
  • Assist with training and development of supervisors, trainees, and hourly employees
  • Provide performance feedback in partnership with plant leadership
  • Oversee warehouse operations to ensure smooth inbound and outbound product flow
