About The Position

The Assistant Superintendent coordinates and manages construction activities to ensure the project is completed per the schedule and per the approved drawings and documents. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for managing communication with subcontractors and other parties, preparing documents and reports, and maintaining a clean and safe job site. In addition, the Assistant Superintendent provides leadership, planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control to meet the profit and growth objectives of all projects assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of multifamily residential construction-related experience
  • Must be an effective communicator

Nice To Haves

  • Experience overseeing high-end custom homes as an asset
  • A certificate, University degree, or college diploma would be an asset
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour training certificate an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing construction activities and reviews, understanding the drawings, submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to schedule.
  • Ensures project materials and workmanship meet project quality standards and scope of work
  • Tracks and reports daily job productions and activities
  • Manages purchase orders for materials, safety supplies, and other site requirements
  • Coordinates and schedules inspections by city officials and third-party inspectors
  • Communicates to team members and trades via email and in-person meetings and follow up on outstanding items
  • Coordinates with trade contractors and ensure they progress according to the project schedule
  • Forecasts material and manpower needs for upcoming construction activities
  • Documents the construction progress and keeps all parties informed on important issues
  • Documents construction deficiencies and manage the completion of punch lists by trades
  • Directs onsite laborers with daily tasks and ongoing clean-up efforts.
  • Ensures all staff and contractors maintain a safe working environment according to company policies
  • Monitors the effectiveness of the company's safety programs for injury and illness prevention.
  • Assists with health and safety inspections and ensures that corrective action is taken to address identified hazards.
  • Assists in the investigation of all injuries and accidents and identifying their cause and corrective action.
  • Ensures that all individuals and subcontractors follow company safety policies.
  • Partners with colleagues and clients on the successful development of safety plans, hazard assessments, risk registries/critical risk protocols, and audits.
  • Prepares and updates the emergency response plan as necessary.
  • Develops weekly safety topics and ensures that weekly meetings are documented.
  • Aids in the centralization of all site inspections, weekly reports, and OSHA/WISH reports.
  • Ensures all records are complete and in conformance with OSHA/WISHA requirements.
  • Performs other duties are required
