About The Position

The Assistant Project Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent in managing day-to-day field operations, ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with O-A-K quality standards. This role coordinates subcontractor work, tracks progress, maintains field documentation, and enforces jobsite expectations for safety, housekeeping, and conduct. Acting as a key support leader in the field, the Assistant Project Superintendent helps ensure smooth workflow, effective communication, and positive jobsite culture through all phases of construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent field experience can be considered.
  • Beginning level commercial construction experience, with exposure to field coordination or supervision.
  • Beginning level ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Beginning level understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Beginning level with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project(Scheduling Software); experience with Procore, Bluebeam, and digital field tools preferred.
  • Reliable transportation; ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions and lift to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance to craft workers to support clear communication, coordinated work activities, and productive jobsite practices.
  • Support daily and weekly planning efforts by coordinating workforce needs, sequencing activities, and identifying material and equipment requirements.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with executing site logistics, managing subcontractor coordination, and maintaining alignment with project schedules and budget expectations.
  • Participate in subcontractor and OAC meetings to stay informed on upcoming work, changes, and project priorities.
  • Monitor jobsite progress to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and installation requirements to verify correct field execution.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Program by conducting walkthroughs, identifying deficiencies, and helping resolve issues.
  • Produce accurate, timely daily logs and field documentation to support progress tracking, communication, and reporting requirements.
  • Reinforce a positive, collaborative field culture aligned with O-A-K values by assisting with onboarding, promoting teamwork, and encouraging open communication and problem-solving among field crews and subcontractors.
  • Promote a safe jobsite through daily reinforcement of safety behaviors, proper use of PPE, and adherence to O-A-K safety programs.
  • Conduct or support jobsite safety inspections, hazard identification, and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure craft workers and subcontractors comply with jobsite rules, safe work practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement of safety materials and equipment needed for self-performed work or site operations.
  • Partner closely with field engineering, project management, and subcontractors to maintain clear communication and alignment.
  • Provide timely updates to senior-level superintendents and project leaders regarding risks, schedule issues, or field challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, trade partners, and design teams through professionalism, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through.
  • Identify potential field issues early, such as schedule conflicts, site conditions, or material delays and help develop solutions.
  • Support accurate reporting and documentation to ensure alignment between scope, schedule, cost assumptions, and field conditions.
  • Assist in ensuring construction activities are executed in alignment with contract documents, minimizing rework and risk exposure.
