About The Position

Overall responsibility for the development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of the district-wide instructional curriculum, assessment, and instructed improvement programs. Responsibility for aligning curricula to standards, student assessments and district goals in order to create the conditions for the highest achievement possible for all students. The Administrator leads district evaluation and facilitates the development and ongoing monitoring of the district’s strategic plan. The role serves as Federal Grant Coordinator, overseeing grant writing, submission, budgeting, reporting, and compliance with all applicable regulations. The Administrator acts as the liaison between RIDE, coordinating the implementation of state level initiatives and collaborating with district and school leaders to ensure grant-funded programs are aligned with district goals and priorities. Also, responsible to assist the Superintendent on a complete range of administrative responsibilities as needed. In addition, the office of the Assistant Superintendent will also serve as the District Title IX Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required
  • Strong leadership background
  • Thorough knowledge in literacy, mathematics, and content area teaching
  • Experience in planning, developing, and implementing collaborative professional development models
  • Understanding the alignment between assessment and student outcomes
  • Administrative experience with strategic planning and fiscal management
  • Administrative experience in supervision and evaluation
  • Extensive knowledge of standards-based instruction, literacy and mathematics
  • Experience in planning and conducting professional development
  • Knowledge of positive school climate models
  • Rhode Island Certification as a Superintendent or qualification to attain the required certification is required and/or an alternative combination of education and/or experience
  • Outstanding presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills resulting in effective school-based collaborations
  • Strong organizational, writing, and data skills
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively handle complex, district-wide issues utilizing a problem-solving approach
  • Capability of responding simultaneously to a variety of requests from school committee members, administrators, staff, public agencies, parents and community (multi-tasking)
  • Capable of working collegiality with all levels of administration and staff
